Planning
Dedication leads to success. Here is some of the planning/brainstorming that occurred through out the year, and some sketching we did for our Wellness Wristlet!

Quotes from participants at our MSCP Seminar
Quotes:
"I feel unsafe walking home sometimes because I feel like I'm going to get mugged."
"I feel unsafe because I feel like there's always someone creeping up behind me, but in reality, there is no one there." "I only feel safe when I'm with someone." "I feel unsafe for the simple reason that I am a girl because we've become an easy target for men." "Because of the area I live in, I feel unsafe walking home because of things that might happen around the area." "I hear about things that happen to women and how dangerous it is for us to walk alone. and sometimes we feel safe when we're other people." "Sometimes it has to do with what I'm wearing and I can see guys staring and it makes me feel like they're going to do something." "Since men think women are weak they start taking advantage of us. They think we're vulnerable and can't fight back." "I like how we were taught self-defense moves because sometimes guys grab us, and now we know different moves to defend ourselves." "I like all the things you girls taught us because I've always wanted to learn how to defend myself in case anything happens and that actually helped me." "It was everything I expected. It was empowering for us but it also made us feel safer." Physical Feedback:
While our initial demonstrations of the defense techniques were deemed effective by our participants, it was suggested that we use male subjects in our demonstrations to make the simulation more realistic. |
